Bio: Greg Clancy

Greg Clancy was born in Shreveport, Louisiana on November 30, 1962 and moved to Texas at the age of four. He was born into barbershop, as his dad, Jim Clancy, is director and primary arranger for the eleven time gold medal champion Vocal Majority Chorus.
Greg's barbershop career began at the age of ten. He used to run the spotlights at the Vocal Majority Good Time Shows in the Dallas area. He joined the chorus at the age of twelve and participated in all eleven VM gold medals. Greg now owns the most “hardware” in the quartet with eleven chorus gold medals and a quartet gold medal (with Jeff running a close second.) He is associate director and lead section leader of the VM and thoroughly enjoys sharing the chorus experiences with his dad and many great friends in the VM.
Greg sang in several quartets through the years. He started in a quartet called Tone-ails. After a successful contest experience, they changed their name to Class of the '80's. This was a renegade foursome that was all about having fun and singing "high and loud." Greg also sang with Gatsby, which finished sixth at international competition in 1985. He sang for a time with Dealer's Choice, the 1973 International Quartet Champions, as they came out of retirement, and he joined Max Q upon its formation in 2002.
"Barbershopping has played a HUGE role in my life," Greg says. "Without it, I wouldn't have been prepared for my career, I wouldn't have met my wife and I wouldn't have had countless significant experiences that have shaped who I am as a person."
Greg stepped in to the Dallas jingle industry as a first-call studio vocalist in 1986. He now produces most of the sessions in which he sings and is writing radio i.d. packages and retail commercial jingles in the DFW market. He owns a publishing company that administers ASCAP royalties for Dallas jingle houses. Greg also owns a fitness-related music company, Pro Motion Music.
As busy as Greg is professionally, his priority is being home with his beautiful wife Luann and amazing children, three-year old daughter McCaa and two-year old son Jack. "This is where my life is, where my heart and soul reside. I wish I could be here 24/7. Helping my children grow into loving, caring adults is what my life is all about," says Greg. "It took a while for me to find out what is really important in life, and I'm grateful I was shown the way."
